Eric A. Montgomery opened the doors of The Montgomery Law Firm, PLLC in January of 2009 with the primary purpose of providing legal solutions and support to the small business community. After spending almost 20 years as a corporate attorney for various large companies in North and South Carolina, he seeks to provide the same type of sound legal advice and counsel to individuals and companies in the greater Charlotte community. Other areas of focus will be employment law and estate planning.
He previously served as an Assistant General Counsel for Bank of America, SCANA Services, Inc. and Flagstar Corporation (Denny’s). His legal career began with the law firm of Plunkett & Cooney, P.C. in Detroit, Michigan.
A native of Charlotte, NC, Montgomery graduated from West Charlotte Senior High. He attended North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from Marquette University Law School.
Montgomery is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the North Carolina State Bar, the State Bar of Wisconsin, and serves as a Vice-Chair for the John S. Leary Bar Association.
His community service involvement includes serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the African American Community Foundation and the Housing Trust Authority Board for the City of Charlotte. He is a member of Pi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. Montgomery is a Limited Partner of the Godwin Fund Partners, L.P., an equity hedge fund.
In 2006, Montgomery was named as Co-Recipient of the Howard B. Eisenberg Award from the Marquette University Law School Alumni Association for recognition of outstanding community service. During that same year, he was elected to the NCCU Athletic Hall of Fame as a Contributor.
